About Us
Cincinnati Dog Pages was created in the summer of 2009 as a place for the dog community in Cincinnati to find help for whatever they need to enrich the lives of their dogs. I am founder and designer Kathy McRoberts, an avid “dog person” and member of the Hamilton Dog Training Club and Therapy Pets of Greater Cincinnati. In August of 2009 we lost our dog Jake, a seven year old golden retriever, to liver cancer, which he battled for seven months. He had achieved his Canine Good Citizen Certificate and was a registered therapy dog. Jake brought a lot of smiles to people all through his illness and has been an inspiration to many. This website is dedicated to him.
We recently welcomed a new member into our family, a chocolate lab puppy who we named Teddy.
Though I am certainly no expert, I have spent a lot of time studying and researching various dog training, behavior and health topics as a passion and hobby. The articles I have written for this website contain information compiled from various expert sources, and include my own experience as well.
The mission and values of Cincinnati Dog Pages...
- Improve the lives of dogs by providing resources and education for their owners or caregivers
- Connect dog-related service providers in the Cincinnati area with people who need them
- Support the work of local shelters and rescue organizations and promote pet adoptions
- Promote natural and holistic dog care and products
- Maintain a positive and helpful website
We believe that every dog should have the opportunity to lead a happy and healthy life in a lifelong, loving home, and we hope that this website will help their owners to provide that. We serve all of greater Cincinnati and surrounding areas, and provide a great resource for those moving into the area as well.
I would like to thank my husband for coming up with the idea for this website and for helping me pull it all together.
One of my favorite poems by Emily Dickinson somewhat describes the mission of this website...
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
